K-2 Basketball has home games on Saturday, April 14th and Saturday, April 28th in the afternoon. Stop on by the gym to see the young Falcons in action. St. Clare Track has home meets at Grosse Pointe South on Sunday, April 22nd, Sunday April 29th and Sunday May 6th beginning at 12:30 for field events and 1:00 for running events. St. Clare Baseball has home games at Messmer Field (corner of Bluehill and Minneapolis) on Friday, April 20th at 6:00 pm, Thursday, April 26th time TBD, Saturday May 5th at 3:00 pm and Sunday May 6th at 12:00.

With over 60 games played in a ten day span at the gym, our second largest fundraiser has come to a close. Thanks to all of the parents and volunteers who helped! Congratulations to Coach Helen Srebernak’s 8th Grade Girls on winning the tournament. They were led by Alexa Downey and Keely Conlan to defeat Shrine Catholic in the championship. The 7th and 8th grade boys teams were both tournament runner-ups.
To be eligible to participate in CYO Athletics you must be a baptized Catholic, a registered member of a parish and attending a recognized Religious Ed program. The most common being St. Clare, St. Ambrose and St. Philomena.
The Catholic League and Catholic Coaches Association Hall of Fame announced its 2015 inductees. To our great pride and honor our very own Bob Conway is one of them. He is being inducted into the Referee Hall of Fame. We recognize the great effort and dedication that Bob has given to our CYO for so many years.
Congratulations to the 6th grade girls along with Coach Conlan and Coach Rogers. They were victorious in their Post – season basketball tournament held at Our Lady Star of the Sea. The girls beat St. Lawrence in the championship. to win the title.
Congratulations to Coach Helen Srebernak and the 8th grade girls St. Clare Falcons basketball team as they captured first place in the St. Germaine Christmas basketball tournament. The girls beat Royal Oak Shrine, St. Isaac Jogues, and St. Joan of Arc to win the tournament. Nice job ladies!
The St. Clare boys soccer team completed their regular season with a 9-1 record and are heading to the play-offs. Congratulations to all the boys and coaches Tom Oeser and Patrick Cusmano. Last Sunday the boys played a spirited game against non-league opponent St. Anne of Warren and beat them in comeback style winning 4 -3. Finn Boyle, Will Zarowski, Josh Simmet, Joe Pellerito and Mateo Manriquez all played well. The goal keeper for the Falcons is Jacob Bruetsch. Good luck in the play-offs.
At the CYO Finals 6th grader Courtney Kennard took first place in both 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Kennard won with the times of 12.6 and 26.9. Elizabeth Calcaterra place third in the 100 meter and 200 meter runs. She turned in times of 13.1 and 27.5. Other CYO Final highlights were Olivia Miller fourth palce in the High Jump (4’ 4”). Kris Granderson took fourth place in the Shot Put. Other strong performances were turned in by Ashton Pongratz, Finn Boyle, Brendan McNamara, Matthew Calcaterra, Emma Kuhr, Kailey West and the 4 X 800 relay featuring Joe Roarty, Michael, Roanan Lowell and Luther took a 6th place medal.
Many thanks to the forty plus volunteers who participated in Field Day at Joseph Simoncini Field last Sunday. After a very long winter it was nice to see signs of spring. The most noticeable sign of spring for me is seeing baseball diamonds in use. The group picked up debris, groomed what we could on the field, located the pegs for the various bases, and spruced up the entire area.
It is Parent’s Day weekend at St. Clare. The last home games for the Falcons will be Saturday, February 22nd and Sunday Feb. 23rd against St. Issac Jogues. See the website for the updated times. Come out to the gym and cheer on the Falcons! The Athletic Committee would like to extend our support to our St. Clare student-athletes who are participating in the school play. Break a leg!
This past weekend the Falcons played St. Joan of Arc and won 4 out of the 7 games played. All the girls team won. Congratulations to Coach Lance Jefferies (5), Coach Harold Conlan (6) and Coach Helen Srebernak (8). The 7 boys who won this past weekend are coached by Greg Fekin.
