Pope Francis has announced a Jubilee Year of Mercy starting on December 8th of this year until November 20th of 2016. During this year, we are all called to focus on mercy – God’s mercy toward us, and how we can live more merciful lives as Christians.
The large paper recycling bins will be removed from our property in the near future. I regret that due to improper use of the bins by a small number of people we need to have them taken away. We have not been receiving any funds from the bins in over a year due to low paper prices. I encourage you to find another way to recycle your paper. Thank you for understanding.

A few days ago our pastor asked me to share with you my “American experience” after one year at St. Clare. My Gosh! One year in the U.S. My first anniversary! I know that time flies, but just not so fast. I’m very grateful to God for the things He gives me every day. I’m also grateful to many people, Fr. Andrew, the Michaelite Community, and each and every one of you for your warm welcome, for your support, friendship, and especially for your prayers.
Each year SVDP does a special outreach to families we have helped in the past year by delivering a Thanksgiving Food Gift. This year we hope to help 25 families. We already have a generous donor who is providing 25 hams, but we could use a little more help.

It is time again for EAP--the Energy Assistance Program! St. Vincent de Paul-Detroit has been awarded $4.4 million dollars from the State of Michigan Public Service Commission to disperse to eligible persons. As we have done for the past 2 grant periods, SVdP-St. Clare will be taking the lead on a collaboration of Vincentians from the surrounding parishes of our SVdP District—St. Matthew, St. Paul, Star of the Sea, St. Ambrose, and St. Raymond. We will also be serving people living in areas with no SVdP representation—St. Philomena, St. Jude, Assumption Grotto, and people who live where St. Peter and Queen of Peace have closed.
