The Second Scrutiny focuses on the theme of Light and New Vision. The First and the Third Scrutinies, as given by the Church, emphasize Living Water and Life. All three themes invite the Elect and the Candidates to reflect more and more upon Jesus, his words and his mission, and upon their personal and communal relationships.
Slowly the residents who were burned out of the Jason Manor Apartments are finding new housing. The family our parish is “adopting” will be moving into their new home this week. Tameka and her sons, aged 6 and 8 and her boyfriend have been staying with relatives since the fire destroyed their apartment building and everything they owned back on March 5th. Tameka is sure that God woke her boyfriend that morning. He smelled the smoke, and yelled “Fire, Fire!” When they opened their bedroom doors, their living room was already in flames, and they had no option but to jump out the bedroom windows.
We have been notified by SVdP Detroit that March 31st will be the last day we can submit new energy assistance applications, so if you or someone you know might qualify for this grant—see the income table below—PLEASE leave a confidential message on our assistance line (313-647-5062) ASAP. The original grant was for 2.25 million dollars, but most of those funds have been distributed, and the rest will go quickly.

Last Sunday we celebrated another successful St. Clare Falcons basketball season at our annual winter banquet.
