On Tuesday Jan. 24 at 10.30 am our church will be the site of Tuesday Musicale. Michigan Opera Theatre’s first cellist, Nadine Deleury, violinist Velda Kelly and harpist, Patricia Terry Ross are giving a special concert as a Community Outreach Program; also performing is well-known Brazilian-born pianist, Maria Meirelles (who helped with her concerts at Orchestra Hall, to save and establish this wonderful venue for Detroit). In addition, award-winning saxophone player, Christopher Sacco will perform music by Saint Saens, Bizet and more modern composers, with collaborative pianist, Kathryn Goodson from the University of Michigan. To conclude the event, gifted 12- year-old Tuesday Musicale Student Leaguer, flutist, Ian Plansker, accompanied at the piano by his teacher, Sharon Sparrow, (Assistant Principal Flutist with the DSO), will play the charming Waltz from Suite de Trois Morceaux by Benjamin Godard. This will be an extraordinary concert with some of the most prestigious musicians in our area. Music from Handel to Prokofieff will be heard. The concert is free to the public. Donations for Tuesday Musicale Student League Scholarships will be greatly appreciated.
