The Christian Service Commission sincerely wishes to thank our wonderful St. Clare community and friends for their commitment and support of the St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen project. The boards filled up early and everyone was wonderful about dropping off the prepared and bought food items Sunday evening before each of the six Monday deliveries. Chris Williams, the Soup Kitchen Manager, sends a heartfelt Happy Easter and thank you for our generosity and faithfulness to his lunch program. Our abundance of food provided multiple meals for Chris during the week and allowed him to freeze some for future use.
While we are not prepping and serving on Monday’s due to their shortened hours we did work the kitchen on a couple of Wednesday’s this year. I was especially touched this year to see many of our young parishioners involved in the project.
Secondly, I wish to personally thank all the councils and commissions at St. Clare that embraced the role of host during our six simple suppers of Lent. The soups were delicious! We encouraged fellowship and hospitality around a bowl of soup and a roll. I loved watching the friendly mix of young and old, families and individuals together in our intimate kitchen dining room. Thank you to all who attended and made “Simple Supper” a tasty and meaningful part of their Lenten experience.
Finally, I am excited to share with you our plans to launch a fundraiser in May to support H.A.R.T.’s “Bricks for Haiti” project. We are inviting you to help rebuild St. Jude’s in Haiti after the earthquake. Marty Petz from St. Philomena’s and Maria Rodriguez from St. Paul’s are very involved in promoting this cause. You may recall Marty spoke about the project in the fall. They are well on their way but would love our continued support.
Details of this project will be coming out very soon!
