There are so many things going on at St. Clare these days that we can’t squeeze another evening activity in, so we are going on-line for the new St. Clare Book Study Group.
We will begin in September by reading Render unto Caesar: Serving the nation by Living out Catholic Beliefs in Political Life.
Regardless of how you feel about the upcoming election, we are living in a very unusual time, and this study will give us an opportunity to center politics in our faith.
We will use a private Facebook site for our study. All you will need is internet access with a computer or a smart phone and a Facebook account. There will be a short training session after all the Masses one weekend in September if you are not familiar with Facebook. Each week, you will reply to questions posed, and comment on other postings. In this way, we will have an on-line “discussion.”
Our second book will be Laudato Si - On Care for our Common Home, Pope Francis’ encyclical on the environment.
This is the first time we have tried anything like this at St. Clare, but it has been done successfully in other parishes and in education. You can read and comment in your own time, and often, people are more honest and open when they are not face-to-face.
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to [email protected] or go to Facebook, look for the group “St. Clare Book Group” and request membership.
Please join if you are interested. I will have additional information on the cost and availability of the books soon.
