The St. Vincent de Paul Friends of the Poor Walk on Saturday, October 17th is a unique opportunity to be a witness of god’s love, to ignite hope in the hopeless, or reward someone’s faith. It’s the opportunity to not just “talk the talk” but to literally “walk the walk.”
The walk you take by participating as a walker or a donor helps provide beds for families without a stick of furniture. The donations mean a family can have a stove, and that the sick and elderly can have medicine and heat. Your donation means that a wife who has been abandoned knows that God--through your donation--has stayed by her when the rent is due. All of this is possible with your support of the Friends of the Poor Walk. The need is great. Every dollar counts.
All donations collected at St. Clare STAY with the St. Clare SVdP Conference for our work in the immediate area. The walk is a 3 mile course on Belle Isle beginning at 10 a.m., with check-in beginning at 9 a.m. There is no cost to participate in the Walk; however the new state park pass annual fee of $11.00 is in effect for vehicles coming onto Belle Isle. We will also be organizing car pools from the St. Clare Parking lot.
Beginning next week, SVdP Volunteers will be at the church doors to register walkers and collect donations for the Walk. We look forward to your support!
