The annual Friends of the Poor Walk will be held on Saturday, October 17th at Belle Isle. This walkathon will be a fun way to explore the beauty of Belle Isle but it is much more than that. The Walk is a vital fundraiser for St. Vincent De Paul. The proceeds we raise will go directly to our St. Clare St. Vincent De Paul Conference to carry on the work of meeting the critical needs of the poor. Last weekend’s reading asked “what is faith without works?” Your participation and/or sponsorship makes it possible to live our faith by works. You don’t have to be rich to help feed the hungry, provide clothing, provide heat, help pay for a much needed prescription and much more. A donation or sponsorship of any amount can help make these works possible. In the next few weeks there will be tables set up in the church to register as a donor or a walker.
The walk is a 3 mile course on Belle Isle. Walkers will be provided with Lunch and T-shirts. Check-in on Belle Isle is at 9:00am, and the walk begins at 10:00am. There is an $11.00 State Park Recreation pass fee per car if you don’t already have a pass. The pass can be purchased on Belle Isle. We will also be organizing carpools from the church parking lot. Please join us in this fun and important event.
