On Monday, November 2, we will celebrate the commemoration of All Souls. While we always remember our beloved dead in every Holy Mass and at all Funeral or Memorial Masses, the month of November is particularly dedicated to prayer for All Souls. The belief that our prayers can be of assistance to the dead is a treasured part of our Catholic faith. We profess it every time we pray the Nicene Creed: “… I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come!” Everyone is welcome to join us for the Masses on All Souls Day (Monday at 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.). Here are the other ways to honor your beloved dead:
- During this month we invite you to enter the name(s) of your beloved deceased in our Book of Life, located at the baptistry in the center of our church. Those whose names are listed, will be remembered at all Masses during the month of November.
- Honor your loved one by offering a Memorial Gift to St. Clare School or St. Clare Church in his or her memory. Envelopes are available on the table at the baptistry.
- Remember your deceased family members and friends by arranging to have Masses offered for them. You will find envelopes for this purpose on the baptistry table. Though we do not ask a stipend, most people make an offering of $10 for a Mass.
- We invite you to visit our Memorial wall from time to time during the year to pray for our beloved deceased. Copies of the Funeral Booklets may be found in a special binder.
Eternal rest grant to them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the Souls of all the Faithful departed rest in peace. Amen
