Margaret E. Olis, “Marge”, after living an exuberant long life, died on December 16, 2015 surrounded by family.
Born in Detroit and finally settling in St. Clair Shores, Marge always lived life to its fullest. Soon after high school at St. Anthony in Detroit, Marge dedicated herself to her fashion retail profession at the J.L. Hudson Company where she held many senior buying roles throughout her career. After many years, she “retired” and worked at Jacobson’s in Grosse Pointe until it closed.
Marge always put family first, such as caring for her parents, John and Margaret Olis, through their later years. She was the matriarch of the Olis family, while continuously enjoying, socializing and becoming an integral part of so many family members’, friends’ and neighbors’ lives.
She found joy in reminiscing about her multi-faceted gem of a life, complete with laughter, work, extensive world travel, golf and her passion for shopping. Marge will be remembered for her generosity, enthusiasm, independence and passion for life.
Marge is pre-deceased by her siblings, John Olis, Edward Olis, Mary Ellen Canestraight and Josephine Reitzloff.
Marge is survived by her brother, Andrew and his wife Harriet Olis, and her sisters-in-law Anne (John) Olis and Margaret (Edward) Olis. She leaves behind many loving nieces,nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, and in her honor, donations may be made to St. Clare of Montefalco, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230.
Service Info: A celebration of life mass will be held at St. Clare of Montefalco in Grosse Pointe Park on Saturday, January 16 at 10:30am.
