Former Grosse Pointe Park resident Charlene Marie Addy passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at McLaren Macomb Hospital.
Born April 23, 1953, in Detroit, to Mary Louis “Sis” and Robert Addy, she attended St. Clare of Montefalco, Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic schools and Grosse Pointe South High School, where she performed in many theatrical productions. Charlene worked in fashion retail at Himelhoch’s and Jacobson’s in Grosse Pointe.
An “original” hippie from the late 1960s, she hung out locally on Plum Street as well as Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. She was a backup singer for rock groups at the Grande Ballroom and Gar Wood Mansion in Detroit. In addition to her love of singing, music and animals, she enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
Charlene is survived by her son, Gary Lentz; sisters, Susan Trout (Harry), Cornelia “Dee” Steiman (Robert) and Mary Lynn Miller; brother, Robert (Karey) and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents and niece, Marian Frame.

Service Info: A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church, 1401 Whittier, Grosse Pointe Park.
