Having Difficulty Paying your Utility Expenses?
We may be able to help if you are behind on your gas and/or electric bills!
St. Vincent de Paul-Detroit has been awarded a $2.25 million grant by the Michigan Energy Assistance Program (EAP) for DTE and Consumers Energy customers who meet the criteria. Members of the St. Clare conference are trained to process applications. Please call our assistance line at 313-647-5062 and leave a confidential message. We will call you back to see if you qualify. We have already been able to provide over $6500.00 in utility relief for families in our community.
You are eligible for the St. Vincent de Paul Energy Assistance Program if:
- The total income in your household is at or below 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see table below)
- Your bill is $250 - $3500 for a combined gas/electric account or $200 - $2000 for a single utility.
- You have a valid photo MI license or state ID that matches your current address
- The name and address on your utility bill match the name and address on your ID
You have made payments in the past 6 months of $225 for a single utility or $450 for a combined gas/electric
