The first Camp Ozanam Enrollment Gathering held at St. Clare for families living in the Detroit East District of SVdP was a HUGE success! We were able to enroll 79 children in the camp program. Vincentians from St. Clare, St. Matthew, and St. Ambrose were on hand to interview the children, help parents fill out camp applications, and assist our volunteer doctors with 79 camp physicals.
Along with the their camp tote bag, the children also received an individual personal care bag including toothpaste, a toothbrush, soap, shampoo, sunscreen and more. Many of these toiletry items were donated by St. Clare parishioners and packaged by our Religious Ed students. Special thanks to all who contributed and to Diane McCloskey for coordinating this effort!
Dr. Tom Forbes and Dr. Tom Graves worked non-stop giving the kids camp check-ups, filling out health forms, and talking with families about healthy habits. We could not have enrolled so many kids without their generous assistance. By having doctors on site, we were able to offer a one-stop experience—no separate physician appointment necessary. A big Thank You to our docs for sharing their Saturday.
More good news—it is still possible to enroll children ages 8-12 for the Traditional Camp program! (The Adventure Camp Program for ages 13-14 is now filled.) For Camp Applications, please leave a message on our SVdP Assistance Line: 313-647-5062 or talk with one of our Vincentians.
