A huge thank you to those who’ve generously responded to the request to help Tameka and her family who lost everything when their apartment building burned to the ground on March 5. We have offers of a refrigerator, stove and a washing machine. Others have donated cash and gift cards. We would still like to find or purchase a clothes dryer for them. This week, we are coordinating getting the donations to the family. We will continue to accept contributions on their behalf, and we will keep the parish updated on the progress as this family settles into their new home—including some photos in the coming weeks. Thanks again for your support! We are also very grateful to the St. Clare Youth Group (CREW) and their leader, Julie Kelly. They recently volunteered to work at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift store on Kercheval near Alter Road. It was a service project for them, and they spent some enjoyable hours sorting and stocking merchandise in the store. Little did they know that St. Vincent de Paul-Detroit would calculate their hours and give our St. Clare SVdP conference $300 in debit cards in “payment” for their service! These debit cards are a form of cash voucher that our Vincentians can give to people in need to spend on clothing, household items or furniture at the SVdP Thrift stores. For information on volunteer opportunities with SVdP at the Thrift Stores, Central Office or at Special Events—like the Telethon or Annual Golf Outing, contact Cecilia at 313-393-2936 or
[email protected] and make sure to mention you are from St. Clare!
