The Parking lot paving replacement and water detention project is officially underway. Final details are being worked out between designers and contractors. We will provide updates as new information becomes available. We hope to provide access to the Austin Portico and the elevator for most of the project. Parking will be moved to the Whittier side with most using the Verheyden Parking Lot as well as side streets in the neighborhood. If you can walk or bike, then we encourage you to do so. A bike rack is on the Whittier Road side for your use. Thank you for your patience!

Father Andrew, along with Nick Sizeland, the Grosse Pointe Park City Manager (left) and Tom Jenny, the Public Works Superintendent, conducted a ceremonial ground breaking for the parking lot reconstruction project last week. In addition to paving the surface, the project also includes significant stormwater management infrastructure improvements and new landscape planters. The city of Grosse Pointe Park is working collaboratively with St. Clare to replace the original water main that runs from Charlevoix to Mack. Construction is expected to be complete by early September. The church lot closest to the Austin Portico entrance will be open for weekend parking for the next couple of weekends.
Major digging will start soon between the school buildings. Please enter off of Mack Ave. closest to the Mack/Whittier light. You may still park on Whittier and in Verheyden’s lot as needed.
