Hello Everyone,
Happy Palm Sunday. As Christians around the world begin Holy Week, both our Przemysl group and field team went to services at their locations. Those at the retreat house enjoyed a small personal service then were off to their daily assignments, while the group in Przemysl were treated to the pomp and circumstance of Mass at the Cathedral with the Archbishop and all the beauty of the special day. We were just about to leave when the custodian asked if we would like to see the catacombs below the church. These crypts hold the tombs of the bishops of this diocese buried here dating back several centuries.
Because it was Sunday ( a day of rest) and also our host Fr. Marek’s 45th birthday, we were invited to join a small celebration and share some cake, coffee and conversation with him. We did spend the afternoon hours at the refugee center, completing the tasks that keep the center clean for those transitioning to other countries. It’s interesting how after such a short period of time we all catch on to the way things work and assimilate into the flow easily.
In the evening we were guests of the Michaelite Sisters for coffee and dessert. There was a lot of eating today…Michael enjoyed it all. As our time here is drawing to a close soon, we are moved by the courage we see in the faces of the refugees in spite of the suffering and struggle they wrestle with daily. Then we look to the Cross and see the suffering of Jesus also, and remember through trust we are yoked to him, we are never alone. He remains with us in our suffering, and ultimately His resurrection is one he will share with us.
Keep praying.
