Pentecost brings the Easter season to a close with the extraordinary gift of the Holy Spirit. During the season of Lent and Easter we walk with Jesus through his life of ministry, his passion, his resurrection and now the ultimate gift he leaves with us, the presence of the Holy Spirit descending upon all of us. Our children and RCIA candidates received the central sacraments of our faith over the course of these 90 days and now we all move forward blessed with the Holy Spirit and we transition to Ordinary Time in the Liturgical calendar. But really there isn’t anything ordinary about it, I would say it’s more accurately described as EXTRODINARY!
If we choose to embrace stories from the Bible, the prayers, the devotions we practice, and the songs we sing. In all of these - the mystery of God coming to us and us coming to God is being revealed, and if we truly see this and live this it is anything but ordinary! BE BOLD BE HOLY BE CATHOLIC!
As we come to the end of our academic and pastoral year, vacation schedules populate our plans. It is important for all of us to find time, to rest, enjoy a BBQ, visit with friends and family – simply enjoy each other and our community, which for so long was on hiatus due to the pandemic and its fallout.
So as this Memorial Day weekend begins, let’s be thankful and give praise for all the blessings in our lives. On behalf of the staff, I want to thank the music ministry for enhancing our services, the décor ministry for providing such a beautiful altar, the garden club for beautifying the grounds, the prayer ministry for remembering the sick, suffering, and our sacramental students. Thank you, the parishioners of St. Clare for participating in the Novena for Elizabeth and all Mothers, and for the support of our school auction extravaganza. Thank you for your continuing financial support that keeps our parish and school running smoothly and to the many worthy causes that our ministries put forth.
As we celebrate these days of “Ordinary” lets keep the Lords Day holy, avoid disconnect between the faith we profess and the daily activities we practice. Be Bold. Be Holy. Be Catholic.
