Today is traditionally called Gaudete Sunday, from the Latin entrance antiphon prescribed for this Sunday. As we move to the second part of Advent there is this sense of joyful expectation, an awareness that what God promised is coming to its fulfilment. Like Mary and John the Baptist, we are curious that what we see and hear really comes from God. And, like them, we Christians, lead our lives waiting patiently while actively striving to prepare a way for Christ into our lives and into the lives of others.
In this second chapter of Advent, think about people in your life whom you trust and their words and actions of love, mercy, charity, and kindness that reflect reassurance of the presence of the Lord. Send them an email or a thank you card, for the influence they have made in your life. Be Bold. Be Holy. Be Catholic.
