Dear St. Clare Parishioners,
I wanted to take a moment and introduce myself to you. My name is Geoffrey Fisher and I have the privilege of serving as principal of St. Clare School next year. St. Clare has been a special place for me over the years. I have many family members who are proud St. Clare school graduates, and family who are still members of this parish.
In 2014 I received my Master's in Education from Oakland University with a focus on educational leadership. During the course of my studies I worked closely with Sr. Kathy on many administrative tasks, learning how to be a principal. With her assistance, I completed over 400 hours of internship experience, culminating in serving as the acting principal when Sr. Kathy was recuperating for 3 months last year. This past school year, I have served as Assistant Principal, as well as teaching 8th grade. During this year, I have continued to work on the many facets of being a school administrator.
The 2015-2016 school year will be my 9th year at St. Clare. Sr. Kathy and I have a close working relationship and we work well together. I plan to continue to use Sr. Kathy as a great resource as I begin this new ministry. I love being able to share my faith while I teach. There have been numerous examples over the years where I have been able to use a scripture passage, lesson, or homily in my teachings. Working in Catholic education has been a blessing for me, as it has helped me grow in my faith. I feel it has given me a stronger faith.
My goal for St. Clare is to continue the great things happening here. St. Clare has many talented teachers, great parents, many supportive parishioners, and most importantly, phenomenal students. I want to continue to make St. Clare school a gospel presence in our diverse community where the love of Jesus is shared and taught.
So, if you are curious about the great things going on at St. Clare School, stop on in. I will be more than happy to show you around the school and show you the great learning that is occurring in our school. If you have any questions or concerns I will be happy to address them. Give me a call, an email, or come in. As Sr. Kathy has taught me, my office door is always open. As I begin this new journey I ask for your prayers for our students, our school, and our parish community. I am looking forward to celebrating the 90th anniversary of our community and I also look forward to celebrating the 100th anniversary of St. Clare School and Parish.
Peace and Blessings,
Geoffrey Fisher
