August 17
th is the liturgical feast of St. Clare of Montefalco. Since it is the patronal feast of our parish it will be celebrated on Sunday August 20
th. St. Clare was an Augustinian sister. She is memorialized in our church in three locations; first, the stained-glass window above the confessional; second, on the façade of the church there is a small relief of St. Clare and third, there is a statue of our patron saint in our court yard by the entrance to our offices. Part of our celebration on the 20
th will be the blessing of the stained glass windows restored, framed and installed in the sacristy by parishioner, and stained glass artist, Ann Baxter. The small windows are from the former Dominican Sister’s Convent. Ann resized and enhanced them significantly to fit our windows. Four additional panels will be installed above the Whittier entrance stairway, and four above the school entrance stairway. I am very grateful to Ann for preserving the past to share with generations to come. St. Clare pray for us.
