Fourth Sunday of Lent
Today’s Scripture readings center around blindness — both physical and simply not seeing what God reveals to us. In St. John’s Gospel, Jesus cures the blind man at the Pool of Siloam. But the Pharisees do not believe his account of the healing and throw him out of the synagogue; they fail to see Jesus’ mission. The Lord references the anointing of King David in the First Book of Samuel: Not as man sees does God see. In his Letter to the Ephesians, St. Paul reminds us to live in the Lord as children of the light. As Christian stewards on a journey to holiness, what blinds us from full union with Christ? This Lent, examine your prayer life. To draw closer to the Lord, make time daily to communicate with Him, and to listen.
