Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
In today’s processional Gospel from St. Matthew, we witness Jesus’ joyful and triumphant — yet humble — entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. The Jewish people are ecstatic, thinking He is a worldly king who will overthrow the harsh Roman rule. But their jubilation quickly turns when they realize Jesus’ kingdom is of another world. In St. Matthew’s Passion account, the people condemn Christ and the Romans crucify Him. Jesus sacrifices His life for the salvation of all souls. Christian stewards gratefully acknowledge this great gift by returning to the Lord a generous portion of their abundant blessings through the sacrifice of their time, God-given talents, and financial resources to build up His kingdom. Our parishes and schools always seek volunteers. Consider assisting at Mass as a Lector, an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, or an Altar Server, or by serving on the Parish Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Stewardship Commission, Evangelization Committee, or another committee. The opportunities to share your talents are limitless.
